Fairmont Empress

We had a wonderful family brunch here in December, with a lovely atmosphere and very good food. The chilled seafood bar was the highlight. Service was friendly, though I think a bit more training would help the team match the food, presentation, setting, and elegance of the hotel. Guests shouldn't have to top up their own wine, and staff shouldn't need to consult someone else before answering a question about the menu they're serving. Even so, it was an absolutely wonderful experience.

We loved the hotel's old-world charm, and the pictures on the walls that show its history were really cool. The staff made us feel welcome for our anniversary, brought us cake, and still greeted us by name after a couple of days. They also made bringing our dog easy. Once we let them know, they had two bowls and a nice bed ready for our pup. The bathroom and pool amenities were amazing. The soaps and shampoos smelled great, the pool was spacious, and the modern changing rooms had the same amenities. There was a very nice sauna too. We'll definitely visit again!

Classic old-school hospitality throughout, and we'll be back for the view, comfort, and service. We're happy Fairmont customers. On our first trip to Victoria, a young woman in training at reception was incredibly warm and welcoming. After we talked with her, she must have passed along that it was our first visit to Melissa Laing on the front office management team. Melissa sent a wonderful gift to our room. We were both surprised and really appreciated the thoughtful gesture. The experience at the Empress was phenomenal.

The Inner Harbour location made it easy for our family to explore on foot, with walks, attractions, restaurants, and shops close by. Afternoon Tea was a memorable treat for adults and kids alike, and the food was delicious. This was a magical setting for a family getaway, and we'd absolutely recommend the Fairmont Empress to other families visiting Victoria. The hotel is a beautiful historic landmark in the heart of the city. Staff were friendly and welcoming to our children from the moment we arrived, and check-in was easy. Our room was spacious, very clean, and had what we needed for a relaxing stay. The beds were super comfortable, and the atmosphere felt calm and luxurious while still being family-friendly. We had an unforgettable visit with outstanding service. 5/5.
