SUMMERHILL

This used to be my favourite cottage spot, but it's horrible now. There's no onsite help, and the phone number and website shown on the front sign don't work for them anymore. We had no firewood and the propane was low. When it was replaced two days later, the connection was attached loosely. They often don't follow through. They also tried to charge us more than we agreed and did manage to do that to our neighbours.

My family has been coming here for four years, and we feel safe and are treated amazingly at the cottages. We book a week every year, and this will be our fourth; we always rebook before leaving. The location is wonderful, with the beach very close and roomy, safe parking. You can see the river across the street between the other properties, which is a great view to me. We love it here and can't recommend summerhill enough. It's sad to see these new fake reviews.

We gave our feedback directly to the hosts. This was our 13th year, and after 12 exceptional years, the change in ownership was clear. Fran & John, the previous owners, brought the heart of this wonderful resort, and it just didn't feel the same without them. Communication and attention to the guest experience were lacking in many areas. Maybe it's new-owner growing pains, but our stay felt underwhelming.

My child and classmates stayed here in June 2025. There's no security, and there's a known crack house next door. In the middle of the night, vagrants broke into an occupied cabin and set it on fire. The students called EMS and risked injury trying to put it out. Instead of recognizing their effort to save your cabin, you're refusing to refund them. They're traumatized and lost personal belongings in the fire. It spread VERY fast, with what sound like small explosions in the videos. And you had the nerve to charge ch $50 for a missing sponge. Laughable. Do the right thing and refund the kids.
