The bed was super comfortable, and I loved having the amenities room available 24/7. We stayed in a private room with a beautiful view. It warmed up a bit during the day without AC, but the fan helped, and we were outside most of the time anyway. The area was amazing, with courts and fields for all kinds of sports and free equipment rentals. It's not right in the village, but there's a bus stop just outside. I loved the place and will definitely come back.

I spent three weeks at HI Whistler at the start of my time in Canada, and it made a great base. The location may not suit everyone, but the bus stop right beside it makes getting around Whistler easy and stress-free. I'd recommend it to budget travelers. The staff were incredibly friendly and glad to answer questions, which made settling in easy. The place was very clean, with daily cleaning and fresh bedding and towels available on request. The organized, well-kept kitchen worked perfectly for cooking, and there's a handy café downstairs for something quick.

For mid-February 2026, CAD $300 a night was the most "affordable" option we found in Whistler. Cheakamus Crossing is a bit of a trek, about 15-20 minutes by car from the Village, but it's a beautiful area. Bayly Park is right behind the hostel, and our room had stunning mountain views. The 24/7 reception staff were friendly and explained the policies and amenities thoroughly. We also appreciated the free parking, the well-equipped kitchen for making our own meals, and the cozy lounge with a pool table and reading nook. The room was very basic for that price. The private ensuite had a tiny shower, and the toilet had no lid. The bed was low and hard, and the pillows need an upgrade. It's a functional no-frills place, so keep your expectations simple.

The common area was amazing, with a TV room and pool table, and the place itself was pretty perfect. My one problem was getting locked out at 2:30 in the morning. The front desk guy was rude, first telling me, “that isn’t your room,” then arguing that it wasn't mine until he finally admitted it was. He also said, “if I don’t finish this file in the next 15 minutes I might get fired.” I doubt there were any important files that had to be finished then.

It was a lot cheaper than staying in Whistler Village, and the regular buses made the location convenient despite the short ride into town. They ran very often and late. Staff were friendly and helpful, aside from one rather rude older man at reception. The storage and common room facilities were good too. As a solo traveler, I was lucky to meet people in my room. There wasn't much of an atmosphere for connecting with other solo travelers. Most guests seemed to work there or stay long term, and it felt clique-y, though that seems true across Whistler. Bathrooms and showers stayed unclean during my visit. A moldy bath mat seemed to be permanently in one shower, and you could smell it outside the door. The showers weren't good either. The events felt like a chore for staff, and they didn't get many people together for the pub crawl. Axe throwing was good, but only because a big group happened to show up. I'd recommend HI Whistler for a cheap stay, but solo travelers should know it's not easy to socialize here.
