Between fieldwork in the Bush, I stayed at the Riverside Hotel during my layovers. It was comfortable, with a spacious room and an electric kettle, A/C unit, TV, and fridge. Reception and housekeeping staff were friendly and professional. The restaurant food was good, although service could be slow sometimes.

I spent seven days here, including a weekend, in the first week of October. The peaceful view and calm surroundings were so refreshing, and the setting almost made me forget life's troubles. The staff were very friendly. I especially loved the poolside and the peacocks!

The Riverside takes credit cards, and even though the electricity often goes off, the generators kick in quickly. The location is a trade-off: it's away from the street noise and surrounded by lovely green gardens, but also isolated from shops and supermarkets on main avenues like Av. Kasa Vuvu. The trimmed green courtyard and garden swimming pool give the hotel a classic resort feel. Breakfast has a few choices, too. One of the best hotels in Lubumbashi.

The place is clean and quiet, and the staff are professional. Breakfast was great, but for what the restaurant charges, I've had better food.
