We booked at the last minute and were pleasantly surprised by how kind everyone was, even with our poor German. We arrived just before the restaurant closed, and the day's set menu didn't work for my gluten-intolerant wife. They still made her a delicious salad for her main course and fruit salad for dessert, while I got exactly what I ordered, in a generous portion. The children were very well catered for, too. There was a playroom with toys and magazines, a spot in the restaurant where they could get their own cutlery and crockery, and fun areas throughout. It was a breath of fresh air for a hotel. We also liked the prayer at the top of the menu and the subtle references to the hotel's Christian heritage. Their generosity and kindness were exceptional.

The play equipment for children is about the only real plus. Parking was difficult because the service bus needs to get through the car park to reach the stop in the middle, leaving very little room. The rooms are basic and dated, and the food was absolutely awful. When we asked for something different because we didn't like anything on the menu, they flatly refused and told us to go to the shop if we didn't like the food. Breakfast was shocking too, with stale cereal that wasn't worth eating. The staff were OK, to a degree.

It was a very clean place, and the people were really friendly. I'd love to come back, perhaps this winter if there's snow. I couldn't find the camera that shows the area. Could you let me know how to access the Alpina oustside camera? It would help me plan a possible winter visit.

The restaurant was a little difficult because of the language barrier. It would be helpful to have the menu in another language, English or French. We did get it in English for one dinner. Apart from that, the food and room were excellent. I've already recommended the hotel to friends, and they've booked for next week.

From the balcony you can see and hear the waterfall, and the goats kept things entertaining. We stayed in the top-floor three-bedroom suite and had gorgeous mountain views. If you're going in summer, bear in mind there are only duvets. Bring your own sheet if you want something to sleep under on warmer days.
