Alpenhotel Schlüssel

The week went by so quickly. We came back to Alpenhotel Schlüssel for seven nights after our first visit last February, which had been half work and half leisure. This time we enjoyed being here the whole week. Thomas and his team are so welcoming. They even remembered our usual breakfast drinks and how we like our eggs, which made us feel at home. Our room was spacious, cosy, very clean, and had a beautiful view. There’s a supermarket right downstairs, and the station is just a short walk away. We had a great time and would happily return.

The service felt relaxed and friendly, with plenty of helpful information but no hovering. The room was modern, with a balcony looking out over the village and mountains, and worked perfectly for a few days in Andermatt. The lifts are about five minutes away in either direction. Having a supermarket downstairs was especially handy after a tough day skiing, when I was exhausted and needed bath salts for my aching body.

Thomas, the manager, was so nice. He’d stop by to say hello at breakfast, and you could ask him about anything. The room was very clean, had a great view, and the hot water came through quickly. It’s an easy spot for either ski area, with a COOP right downstairs and a really good wine bar next door. The ski room in the basement was clean and convenient too.

We’ve been here before and have just returned to the UK after our second visit. Thomas is very hands-on and helpful if you have questions or run into an issue. He’s friendly, has a good sense of humour, and speaks excellent English. His staff are all efficient and welcoming, and the whole package is excellent value. The hotel sits in the attractive old part of the village, and the rooms are comfortable, well equipped, and finished to a high standard. Breakfast is a good buffet, served daily from 7.30 to 10.00 am, which gives you plenty of flexibility. The ski room is a good size, reached by the hotel lift, and has quality boot heaters and good lighting. I highly recommend staying here and would have no hesitation about coming back.👍
