Hotel Löwen

The location is right in the middle of Appenzell, close to lots of shops and grocery stores. All the staff were exceptionally kind, and breakfast was super fresh and tasty, with a few local cheeses to choose from. I stayed three nights, and the single room was one of the biggest I’ve been in. The antique-style bed was a great plus for me. 10/10, would definitely stay again!

The interior mixes old and new nicely, and the price, breakfast, and location were all great. I’d have slept better with a king-size bed, but two smaller ones were okay for me and my wife. The church bells could be less noisy, though they aren’t. Great place.

Friendly staff and good value for the price. The room was very clean, in a typical Appenzell style, and the new bathroom was very clean too. Breakfast wasn’t too extensive, but everything was fresh and tasty. Some rooms are only reached by staircase.

The lift was much appreciated in this partly modern, partly old hotel in old Appenzell. Our room was modern, with lots of quaint decorative touches. There’s a shared minibar in the hallway on an honor system. Breakfast was in an older-style dining room, with more than enough good things to eat. There was a cool-looking bar downstairs, but it was closed when we were there in November. I only wish there had been a hot pot or Nespresso maker in the room.
