Blatter's Hotel Arosa & Bella Vista SPA

I felt unwelcome throughout my stay because of the horrible, racist front desk staff. The breakfast wait staff were also too friendly and flirtatious, which made me uncomfortable. When I arrived in the afternoon, nobody properly explained the ski resort shuttle at check-in. I had to use a lobby bulletin board, which said pickup and drop-off were at the same place. The morning ride to the resort went fine, but the shuttle never came when I waited at that spot in the afternoon. Since I was traveling internationally, I couldn’t call the hotel, so I messaged through Booking.com. They replied 12 minutes later to say the shuttle doesn’t stop at Hörnli, only at Brügli. I had to take public transport there to get picked up and missed a work call. Later, a staff member said they usually explain the shuttle at check-in, but I clearly hadn’t received that information. The next day, when my friend was due to arrive and stay with me, the front desk rudely said I’d booked for one person and would have to pay extra. I checked my reservation in my room and confirmed it was for two. They called later to say they were mistaken, without apologizing. Between the poor treatment and constant miscommunication, I decided to leave early. Weeks later, I found a mysterious $35 parking charge on my statement, even though I never had a car. Awful experience and very scammy. I wish I’d never stayed here. I’d steer clear of this place.

Our stay was very good overall. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were nice and friendly, except at the restaurant. The wellness area was well designed and had a nice view. I also liked the PV panels and the energy dashboard at reception. Dinner, though, was disappointing because of poor service and conflicting information. At the start of the meal, a woman serving us said we could change the starter on the three-course menu, explaining this in both German and English. We’re sure there was no misunderstanding. Later, another waiter charged us the full à la carte price for changing it, and was dismissive and rude when we tried to explain what we’d been told. There were other minor service problems too: a half-finished bottle of water was left on the next small table, then was empty when we wanted to refill our glasses, and we were charged for it. Another waiter also asked us to order after we’d already done so. The underlying problem was poor coordination and communication among the staff. We reported it to reception. She was nice, but nothing was resolved.

The facilities, food, and staff were all excellent. We had such a great stay that we didn’t want to leave. We’ll certainly be back!

The hotel is beautiful, with a lovely mountain view, and they pick you up from the train station at no extra cost. The food was great and the staff very nice. The spa is beautiful too, but the outdoor whirlpool was out of order. We would have been fine with that if we’d been told beforehand. Nobody mentioned it at check-in, and when we asked, we were told it had been broken for a few months. We booked about 1-2 months in advance and hadn’t seen any warning. If we’d known, we probably would’ve chosen a different hotel.
