Sunstar Hotel Arosa

Our stay at Sunstar was really lovely. I’d read and heard from regular guests that standards had slipped, but we had a very good experience. The hotel works well for families and still has a relaxing atmosphere. Service was excellent, especially Oliver, who was always smiling, engaging, and happy to help. Habibi also did a lot to make our stay enjoyable. The restaurant was fine, but with other options in Arosa, I wouldn’t hurry back to eat there. It’s not ski-in, ski-out, though regular hotel minibuses and free local buses take you to the slopes and around town. I walked with my four-year-old to local restaurants for dinner each evening, so it wasn’t too far out of the way. There are also lovely walking and tobogganing paths nearby. The sauna area was well kept, with a stunning place to relax.

The food was delicious, and the restaurant staff were so friendly. The indoor pool, sauna, and massage at the hotel made the trip even better, especially after it snowed during our September visit. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a breathtaking balcony view. At check-in, a wonderful woman explained the services and gave us a ticket for travel around Arosa and discounts, plus a map of recommended hikes and places to visit. We loved every moment. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely come back on our next trip. Thank you so much!

The room was spotless, the views were amazing, and the staff were wonderful. We only stayed two nights, and the location worked well for exploring the area on foot. Dinner was outstanding. I especially loved the basil pesto pasta. It was so good I ordered it two nights in a row, and our waiter was pleasant and attentive. The spa was fantastic, too. I loved the infrared sauna. We visited as the hotel was preparing for the busy Christmas season, and it was very quiet, so I can’t speak to peak season. They seem to have lots of other facilities we didn’t use, including what looks like an activity room for kids, which I’m sure parents with younger children would appreciate. My only gripe was the distance to the gondola ski station. I like waking up and being just a few meters from the lift, but I know that won’t matter to everyone. For my purposes, I’d take off a star for the location. I’d happily return for a short hiking break, though.

The mountain views are lovely from nearly anywhere in the hotel, and the decorations are especially charming at Christmas. There’s also a nice wellness area for days when the weather doesn’t cooperate. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.
