Art Hotel Riposo

If we come back to Ascona, we'll absolutely book at the Art Hotel Riposo again. The service was incredible, with attentive, helpful and proactive staff throughout. Rooms were cozy but spacious, the rooftop view and pool were beautiful, and dinner was delicious. It felt like a luxurious 5-star hotel for a reasonable price. I'd give it more than five stars if I could.

We spent three nights at this charming hotel, and it exceeded our expectations. The food was amazing, both breakfast and dinner, with a Jazz Live Concert too. The little details make the hotel feel unique, but it was the staff who took the experience to another level. We had a great time resting and relaxing, and would happily return. Thanks!

The location is a real highlight: central, scenic and easy to get around from. We could shop, eat and have drinks in town, then come back to relax without any trouble. The views from our room and the rooftop terrace are among the best in Ascona. The property itself is charming, clean and well looked after, with fruit trees and vines around the courtyard and outside areas. Service was the letdown. We got very little information on arrival, with no orientation, useful tips or personal touch. We'd just stayed at another boutique hotel where they handled all of that really well, which made this arrival feel especially lacking. Nobody mentioned the Friday night jazz event in town until it was too late to reserve dinner in the courtyard. Staff could easily have given us a heads-up. Being followed as we left because of our room key also felt awkward and unnecessary for a hotel aiming for a relaxed atmosphere. We chose Art Hotel Riposo for its strong reviews and reputation as one of the area's top boutique hotels. Our stay wasn't bad, but the high praise didn't match our experience, mainly because of the service. The hotel could do better with organization, communication and the guest experience. Its location and views are what make it shine. Fine overall, about 3.5 stars for me.

Olivia and her brother, the current care keepers, play with other musicians at a free jazz concert in the courtyard on Saturdays. This hotel has plenty of charm and personality, and has been run by the same family for three generations. The rooms and interiors are tastefully decorated. Breakfast is a generous buffet with fresh fruit, eggs, cheese, several kinds of ham and salami, yogurt, pastries, bread and desserts. Dinner is usually a set menu and delicious. The hotel and restaurant staff are attentive to whatever you need. If you enjoy wine, try the white Merlot, a Ticino specialty. I highly recommend staying here.
