Casa Moscia

We really enjoyed the setting, especially the lake view and the easy access for a swim. There’s a playground, plus plenty of spots to sit back or have a drink, and the manager and staff were lovely to us. You can catch a bus to Ascona and other places from here. During the film festival, a free bus runs to Piazza Grande and back every 30 minutes. I’d happily recommend Casa Moscia :o)

The early checkout, before 9:30 a.m., was a bit of a nuisance, and there wasn't any soap in the shower. Still, it's a nice place to stay with a lovely lake view, and I'd recommend it.

The location is gorgeous, the balconies have lovely views, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The place is clean and well run, and breakfast is acceptable. But as someone who travels a lot, I care most about sleeping well and getting a decent shower, and I didn't get either here. The bed was too small for an average adult, the pillow was awful, and although outside noise was kept out, I could hear plenty from the hallway and neighboring rooms. I knew the bathroom setup when I booked, but sharing one tiny shower stall and an adjoining toilet with as many as FIVE guest rooms was still a shock. There's one shower per floor, with no soap or shampoo. If you're used to camping, maybe that's fine, but anyone expecting the basics of even a budget hotel will be disappointed. Breakfast comes with a jug of coffee kept warm, but espresso or cappuccino means going upstairs to use a basic paid machine. Italy is just across the lake, but the coffee hasn't crossed over. It's a beautiful spot, though for this price there are much better options nearby.

I liked the atmosphere and the way the place looks. There are a lot of stairs, though, so it isn't really wheelchair-friendly. You could try your luck in nearby Ascona instead.
