Hotel National Bern

We were there for three nights, and it's one of my favorite hotels so far. The place was clean and warm, the breakfasts were good, and the staff were lovely. I really enjoyed all the little touches, especially the hotel's warm atmosphere and antique lift.

The room was clean and spacious enough for us, and check-in and checkout were effortless. It was also very quiet, except for the floorboards creaking when people passed in the hallway. The hotel's close to the station, and its historic elevator was an interesting experience. I really enjoyed staying here, thanks!

Beautiful hotel and amazing staff, in a really convenient spot. Trams run all day and late into the evening through this busy city center, so it's very noisy. If you need a peaceful, quiet night's sleep, this place won't suit you. Still a great choice in Bern if that isn't a concern.

The location is handy, around a ten-minute walk from both Bern's main station and the old city. Tourist attractions, public transport, restaurants, bars, shops, and supermarkets are all nearby. We had a wonderful stay from check-in to checkout in this grand old building that feels like a museum from another time. Our room was huge and had two bedrooms, which seems unusual, so we were lucky. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows soft, and the three-piece bathroom well equipped. Furnishings were basic but in good condition and functional. Breakfast was wonderful, with plenty of continental food and drinks. People mention tram noise in reviews. In winter, with the triple-glazed windows shut, it seemed less of a problem, though maybe in summer it could be noisier if windows are left open, as there's no air conditioning. Reception gives out earplugs at check-in, but we didn't need them.
