Centro Pro Natura Lucomagno

The hotel and restaurant were shut, but the nature up there was amazing. The air was so fresh and clean, and the pino mugo and pino cembro forest smelled incredible.

We spent the night camping, and the stream outside our tent made it so peaceful. The staff were friendly and accommodating, the facilities really clean, and the restaurant was great for a refreshment. A perfect spot for hiking and being out in nature.

The river runs right beside the campsite, so you hear it constantly. Some people will love that sound, others may not. There are lots of lovely walking routes starting here, and the shared toilets and showers are kept very clean. The restaurant and bar have a decent selection of food and drinks at okay prices. As my dad says, the higher up you go, the higher the prices. Sunday car and motorcycle traffic can get a bit loud and interrupt the peaceful setting, though that's obviously not the campsite's fault. Really beautiful place.

The Centro Pro Natura Lucomagno gives useful information on local wildlife, plants and conservation, and is a good starting point for outdoor activities in the area. From there, the Lucomagno Pass Trail has options for different abilities, from short walks to longer hikes, with lovely mountain and valley views. For alpine scenery, Val Medel has meadows and clear streams, with chances to spot ibex and birds. The more demanding route up Cima di Rosso brings wide views of the surrounding peaks and the dramatic Swiss Alps. Sentiero dei Vigneti combines walking and nature with a look at the area's vineyards and farming heritage.
