We picked this place for its glowing reviews and planned a special dinner for our 25th anniversary. The garden was lovely, the room cozy, and the staff, including a very kind woman who may have been the owner, made us feel welcome. The food looked beautiful too. Then the waiting began. After a good cocktail, we sat for 52 minutes before getting cold soup and dry bread, which we were told should take about five minutes to prepare. We tried to catch the staff’s attention, but they avoided eye contact. An hour and 45 minutes in, we could smell fish frying, and were told our fillet was in the pan. By then we were hungry and had headaches. Fifteen minutes later, the fish arrived over-salted with an acidic sauce. The meat, meant to be slow-cooked, was dry and fatty. We skipped dessert rather than wait another 45 minutes. What was supposed to be a celebration turned into a test of patience.

A birthday treat in every sense. It’s tucked away just 15 minutes from where I live, and the food was as good as any haute cuisine I’ve had elsewhere. Each dish was a surprise, full of flavor and beautifully put together. We started with an earthy, savory vegetarian amuse-bouche, then had the best tartare I’ve ever tasted, a deeply flavorful chicken dish, and steak with foie gras. After that came a lovely cheese platter, a dessert with a really interesting idea behind it, and little chocolates to finish. The meal was washed down with some of the best champagne I’ve had in years. Fantastic 😊

We’re already looking forward to returning during hunting season in October. Our wedding anniversary visit was incredible, and Nadège introduced us to some exceptional new wines. This is a truly extraordinary restaurant, led by two committed, passionate people. Don’t miss it. A must!
