Chalet du Bivouac Napoléon

Our breakdown company booked this for us during a road trip. The people were friendly and the food was OK. The rooms were very clean, though a little dated. It had the most powerful shower I've had anywhere in Switzerland!

I stayed one night while walking the Via Francigena, and had both lunch and dinner at the restaurant. The staff were all very kind and multilingual, and they helped arrange luggage transfer to Grand Saint Bernard. My room was super cute and looked recently renovated, and there was a jacuzzi hot tub to soak my tired hiking legs. This is the 5th hotel I've stayed at in Vaud and Valais Switzerland so far, and my favorite of the bunch. After a good hike, the menu of local Swiss dishes and wines was exactly what I wanted. The fondue was delicious. Definitely recommend it if you're hiking in the area!

I was hiking the Tour des Combins and only realized too late that I'd brought the wrong plug adapter. I stopped for lunch and asked if I could borrow one. The man at the front desk, who may have been the owner, kindly lent me one for a few hours, and I was very grateful. I didn't stay at the hotel, but the restaurant had good food and nice people!
