Such a calm spot, and the staff are friendly. The pizzas are amazing too, definitely worth a try 🤩

The room was clean, but I wouldn't stay again unless the hotel is refurbished. The beds were partly broken and the mattress was far too soft. I asked three times for extra pillows, and the sheets had holes, missing buttons and zippers that didn't work. The friendly, helpful Portuguese cleaning lady was a bright spot. It's handy for the train and bus stations, but traffic makes it very noisy. The elevator is tiny and very old, and despite what the website says, nobody at reception, which is in the hotel bar, spoke Indian. We ate at the restaurant too. The staff were nice, and pizzaiolo Alessandro did a great job, so I'd stick to pizza. The other dishes weren't very good. Chef Alexandre Royer said the sauce au poivre was freshly made, but it wasn't. The bruschetta was just toasted bread with olive oil and cherry tomatoes, with no salt, pepper or garlic. They had no Gruyère cream for the meringue, which is odd for a regional specialty, and the fries were lumpy. Dishes were often mixed up, with salad or fries missing.

The room had an old, rusty cigarette smell, though everything else was good. The location is excellent, close to the bus station, and the view takes in both the mountains and Gruyères château. The employees were nice, and dinner was delicious.

I'm not sure about the hotel, but the restaurant food was some of the best I've had in Switzerland. A young woman did her best to explain things in English and helpfully recommended some of their food and pizza. She was right, the pizzas were great, piping hot from the flame oven. Thumbs up for the food.
