The rooms were spacious, clean, and tidy, and the staff made us feel like family. We had great food and drinks with friendly, accommodating service, all in a wonderful setting with spectacular views across the mountains and valley. Getting here without a car takes some planning. The lift from Chur stops less than 200 m from the property, but it closes at 1700. After that, options are limited: the nearest bus stop is in Malix, 6.2 km away, so a taxi or Uber is probably your best bet. The ride up is breathtaking.

We took the cable car down when we left. Its top station is a short walk from the cottage, and Chur Barnhof is only a brief walk from the bottom station. It took about as long as a taxi but cost half as much, with views that were a hundred times better. Next time, we’ll take the cable car both ways. Bergpension is a delightful find, a cosy lodge on the edge of the Brambrüesch mountain with sweeping views over Chur and the valley. Mine host Thomas was welcoming and helpful with travel and tourist advice. He’s also a great cook, so do try his Làngos von Emese! We came up from Chur by taxi.

After taking the cable car up the mountain in summer, we stopped in for food and drinks. The views were beautiful, the food was lovely, and the host and owner was really friendly and attentive. We’d love to stay here sometime.

We took the gondola from Chur, then had a short walk to the restaurant. The Alps made for amazing photos, and the schnapps was amazing too. The staff treated us like family. And the fondue on top of a Swiss mountain was incredible.

After a disastrous first go at sledging, we came in for hot chocolate and were made to feel so welcome. The fire was just what we needed, and Mumma even brought us some of her delicious Christmas biscuits. Lovely views, a warm welcome, and I’d go back in a heartbeat x
