There’s a bus stop right outside to get to the ski lifts in winter, and the site has toilets, showers, and electric hookups. It’s beside a big lake and makes a great motorhome location. The downside was the pitches when I visited in March. They were like a mud bath and really let the site down. I needed wellies!

The campsite sits beside a lake on the edge of Crans Montana, with both shaded and open pitches, some tucked among the trees. There’s a bar on site, but it was quiet when we were there and didn’t make much noise. Shops are uphill, and though I think there’s a bus, we didn’t use it. We walked instead, but it’s a pretty steep climb. After paying the tourist tax, you get a guest card. Early in the season it gives free cable-car access, which was a lovely bonus. Check the dates and other details online. The owner, Zoran, was helpful, accepts reservations by email, and responds quickly. One small annoyance is that members of the public can walk straight through the site to the lake. There’s also a helipad at the edge of the campsite. Luckily it wasn’t used during our stay, and we never found out whether it was for mountain rescue or an air ambulance.

Alex showed me around on arrival today and was helpful and courteous, explaining how the site works. The showers are clean and warm, and it’s ten minutes to the main lift for the bike park. A lovely campervan spot, with electric hookup, waste disposal, and fresh water.

Epic Hygge! The setting feels like a dream, with a mix of homey comfort and staggering alpine scenery. The family and team running the place are exceptionally kind and professional. I didn’t expect to find somewhere like this in the Alps. I played here with my band at their recent blues festival, and everything was just right. The owners had specifically chosen the other bands, and even though I tour around the world for work, that group of people stood out. They gave the crowd and the bands the same care, which is rare. Even if you’re nearby and not camping, drop in for a visit and you’ll see what I mean!

Right by the lake, this is a lovely campsite and a great base for exploring the area. Highly recommend it.
