Olympic

Our room was spacious, with a large bathroom and a balcony furnished with two chairs. From there we could see a charming street and, off to the left, part of the mountains. The bed was two mattresses pushed together, and both the pillows and bedding were very comfortable. The room was perfectly acceptable. The Olympic Hotel Montana is right in the center of Montana, near the ice rink, casino, and several little cafés. It sits in a one-way pedestrian area, so the approach can feel a bit odd at first. From the street, the Amadeus Bar is much easier to spot than the hotel entrance. Also, reception closes at 22:30. We arrived later and were checked in by someone from the bar staff. Breakfast was a letdown. The food itself was fine, but the selection was limited, and the room was so crowded it was hard to reach the dishes without waiting for other guests to move. The lift is extremely old and tiny, with no inner door, so you can see it moving between floors. A wheelchair or stroller is unlikely to fit. On the first floor, it stopped a little below floor level, which made getting out tricky even with suitcases. Keep that in mind if walking is difficult. If you're driving, contact the hotel to book parking as early as you can. There are fewer spaces than rooms. The outdoor area is tight even for a small car, and the underground garage seems narrower still. Parking was CHF 20 per night. Given the fairly high price, we expected a higher standard, so this wouldn't be our first choice to recommend.
