The rooms are simple but pleasant, and most have a balcony with seating, which we really liked. We came in the off season, so few places were open in town and finding a restaurant was difficult. More options should be available once things open at the end of May.

The staff were polite, friendly and quick to respond. My room was spacious, with a really nice view over the city. The hotel itself is nice, though a little old-fashioned.

Franco and Maurizio are real assets in the dining room, and Anja at reception deserves a mention too. The staff at The Central Sport Hotel are welcoming and helpful. Rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped, though I’d love to have a kettle in mine. Dinner can be inventive, with some excellent touches, and the breakfast buffet has plenty of choice plus dishes cooked to order. The food is sometimes excellent and always good, and nobody goes hungry. The dining room manager leads the team very well, keeps track of everything and is effective without being overbearing.

Nearly perfect. The hotel does feel a bit like the 1970s in places, though, especially the shag-pile carpet in my room. I’m not sure whether every room has that.
