Monstein is a beautiful village, and the hotel’s traditional, family-owned character adds a lot to the stay. It felt warm and personal throughout, and I really liked the small sauna area as a place to unwind. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable, though, and we found the prices a bit high, especially at the restaurant for the type of food served. Still, it was a really nice stay with plenty of character.

I only stopped in for drinks since I was staying nearby, and the proprietor was very friendly. I tried Monstein bier, brewed right next door. It’s a little off the beaten track, but worth visiting.

Hotel Ducan, thank you! I can’t wait to stay again. The building is traditional and sits at the heart of the community in a wonderfully charming village. The food was beautifully cooked, and the beer brewed 20 meters away is world class.

We spent New Year’s Eve dining in the Stube at this cozy, old-fashioned hotel, about 10 minutes from Davos. Everything was nicely presented and cooked, and the service was very friendly. Breakfast included quality products from the region.
