Hotel Joseph's House

Joseph’s House was a perfect pick for a midweek ski trip with a friend. The booking crew were friendly when I called, and checkout was just as pleasant. I’m a big fan of the Davos Klosters Mountain Resorts/Hotels and look forward to visiting one of your places again soon. Keep up the good work.

A modern hotel in a great spot. I did find the unisex restrooms a bit uncomfortable.

The bathrooms are outside the rooms, and breakfast is cereals, meat, cheese, bread, and coffee or tea. It’s pretty basic and much like a youth hostel. Still, it’s good value if you’re there to ski or snowboard. We hardly spend time in the room, so it works perfectly for us. We’ve stayed here a couple of times.

It’s a tidy, quiet place in Davos Platz, about a 9-minute walk from the central train and bus station and close to a main street with excellent shops. The route is the catch: it goes up a very steep road, then two short but steep stretches from the main street to the hotel, and there’s another steep road down to the station. You can go into Coop, the large local grocery store, and take its elevator from the main street down to Davos Platz station, but that isn’t available outside its opening hours. In winter, cleared snow can leave black ice on the road and sidewalk. Without proper snow boots or spikes for deep snow and ice, the walk could be hazardous for an elderly or frail person, or someone less agile or confident. The hotel has a shuttle every 20 minutes from 8 a.m., and taxis are another option, though some people want to be independent sometimes or all the time. Walk carefully. Davos is magnificent any time of year, and I love it, even though I’m cautious in some places in deep winter.
