This is my sixth year staying at the Seehof. The hotel is comfortable and has very good spa facilities. Its location is ideal, just 30 seconds from the Parsennbahn funicular for the Parsenn ski area.

The hotel itself merits four stars, and the kind, helpful staff make the stay better still. Most of the visit was pleasant, though the SPA was messy and best avoided when it’s in that state.

The room cleaning was another disappointment. Bottled water was left only at check-in, so after that we were expected to pay for minibar water. Daily housekeeping seemed to amount to making the bed. The linens weren’t changed, and the bathroom and other areas didn’t feel clean enough. We also had to go back to reception to ask for access to the spa and sauna, since there was no staff in the wellness area. That made using it inconvenient. At dinner, even water and juice cost extra, and the restaurant offered guests just one dish, chicken with rice. The waiters seemed poorly trained, showed little initiative, and weren’t focused on guests. That’s a very limited choice and service for a hotel claiming five-star standards. These problems left us questioning how Seehof Davos can call itself a five-star hotel. To us, the service was closer to three stars at best, and the gap between the claimed and actual standard was disappointing. Management should review its service standards and retrain staff if it wants to meet international five-star expectations.

The hotel's position is excellent, right beside the cable car and close to the train station. Breakfast and dinner were decent, and the a la carte breakfast dishes were particularly tasty and good quality. But our stay didn’t meet expectations, which is a shame because Davos has a lot to offer in winter. The service was the main problem. There simply weren’t enough people to keep up, so you could spend half an hour or two hours in the restaurant, with no way to predict it. At most breakfasts I had to clear our table and fetch cutlery myself. I don’t blame the staff, they seemed willing but physically unable to manage that much work. Our room was deluxe room no. 114. I hadn’t expected the view from its window, and the hotel should have told us about it. I asked reception to move us because it mattered to me, as health issues kept me in the room, but nobody seemed interested in helping. Housekeeping reached us last, around 4 or 5 pm, when we were already back and wanted to rest. The rooms also weren’t as clean as they should be. This hotel isn’t equipped to deserve five stars.

Around 3 pm I stopped at the outdoor bar for a drink and a snack, and the service was awful. Neither of the two staff greeted me or even smiled. When I asked for the bill in German, the waiter wagged his finger, said “nein” several times, then went back to stacking cushions. I went inside to pay, but the waitress scowled and said she was busy serving drinks. Possibly the worst service I’ve had anywhere in the world.
