Hotel Meierhof

I cancelled my reservation because I wasn’t comfortable with my personal data being compromised. I booked through booking.com, then received a WhatsApp message from scammers that included my booking reference and reservation dates and asked for my credit card details. I didn’t provide them. After I contacted the hotel, their response was slow, and they didn’t seem to be taking this seriously. It looks like their systems or booking.com account may have been hacked. Avoid this hotel.

The reception team left a good impression. The person who checked me in was welcoming, polite, and helpful, and the evening receptionist with the bow was warm, attentive, and professional. I wish the rest of the service had been more like that. The hotel has clearly put effort into updating the rooms, which were comfortable, clean, and very nice, but it needs to pay more attention to hospitality. The pool area also needed more oversight. A family were jumping in, using float toys, and playing ball in the pool, which disturbed the relaxing atmosphere. There was a rules sign, but I couldn’t tell how the hotel made sure guests followed it. The pool may be unattended, but it still needs regular checks for cleanliness and behavior. I only learned from another Booking.com review that spa towels are available at reception. Bathrobes in the rooms and slippers would make more sense, especially for a ski hotel. The rooms already had shaving kits, vanity kits, toothbrushes, earplugs, and shoehorns. On my first day, housekeeping missed my room entirely. Reception arranged cleaning promptly once I raised it, but it shouldn’t have been missed. Breakfast that day was slow and short on attention to detail. The bacon was nearly burned. Service and quality improved over the following days, which was good to see. Dinner on arrival was frustrating too. The restaurant told me it only took cash because of a “technical issue” and that I couldn’t charge the meal to my room. I checked with reception, where the receptionist explained that room charges could be processed manually. Having to go back and tell the restaurant manager myself felt unnecessary, since staff should know this basic information. I’d have gone somewhere else to eat if it hadn’t been late and I hadn’t just flown to Zurich and driven all the way to Davos. The restaurant was also extremely expensive compared with the other places I ate during my stay.

The pool and sauna were a real treat, and the room was comfortable and very nice. A relaxing visit, with friendly staff.

On Davos Promenade, Hotel Meierhof has a peaceful but well-connected setting. It’s a four-star alpine hotel with a long history going back to 1890, and it mixes traditional Swiss hospitality with modern comfort. Couples, families, people attending events, and outdoor enthusiasts should all find a warm welcome and good amenities here.
