Waldhotel Davos

The Waldhotel Davos was an easy place to reach by public transport. The hotel transfer both on arrival and departure worked perfectly, and our dogs could ride with us in the passenger area. The staff also worked around our wishes, and our luggage was taken to the station at the agreed time, so we could walk the dogs down to Davos Platz. We had a very comfortable stay at the end of September. It's also a great option with dogs. The half board meals were very good, and the varied breakfast buffet was high quality. Staff were exceptionally friendly, courteous, and attentive. The hotel has a beautiful view and a welcoming wellness area. There are some interesting touches from its past. The dining room and bar ceilings and lighting faithfully reproduce those from the former Waldsanatorium. Old founding documents are displayed in the corridor, and you can look through a glass panel into a small room furnished authentically. After dinner, the bar is a pleasant spot for a cocktail. I can wholeheartedly recommend the Waldhotel Davos and would be happy to return.

The location was just right for long mountain walks, and we never needed the car. We came for a few nights to get away from the summer heat and hated having to leave. Our room was spotless, with a gorgeous view from the balcony. All the staff were kind and professional, and they made us and our dog feel welcome. We'll definitely be back!

Set above Davos Platz, Waldhotel Davos is a peaceful, refined wellness retreat with panoramic views and a strong connection to nature. In a historic former sanatorium once frequented by literary figures, it pairs Alpine elegance with a real sense of history and character. Attentive service makes it a lovely choice for couples, wellness travelers, or anyone after a little quiet luxury.

The setting is a bit out of the way, but the valley view is lovely and nights are very quiet. Everyone working there was warm and friendly, and the Friday night bar entertainer's enthusiasm was infectious. Dinner at the restaurant was outstanding, far better than I expected. The spa is nice, if a little small. The pool water was much too cold, though, and I didn't feel like going in a second time. There's plenty of history here, and the building has the classic old hotel atmosphere I like. It is fascinating to think Thomas Mann may have found inspiration for the Zauberberg while staying at the former Waldsanatorium. Just be prepared for quirks like lots of stairs, old lifts, and rooms and corridors that are a bit worn.
