Hotel Restaurant La Furca

We stopped for lunch, and everything was good. They also knew a lot about gluten-free options and celiac disease. Great!

The breakfast and dinner were both lovely, and the staff were friendly, but flies kept landing on the bread and croissants, which put us off. We paid £150 for one night, so this wasn’t a cheap stay. The room was fine, but very hot without air conditioning. We knew there was no aircon when we booked, but there were so many flies that we couldn’t leave windows or doors open. Trying to sleep with them buzzing and landing on us was unpleasant. Dinner was expensive too, and the flies ruined the meal for us and the other guests. We tried moving inside, but the restaurant had just as many. At checkout, we mentioned the problem to the lovely receptionist and suggested doing more to deter the flies or covering the food. He said they use a spray indoors, but it didn’t seem to work, and the flies came back as soon as the doors opened. With this many flies at a hotel charging this much, I’d say air conditioning is a must.

The location is very handy, just a one-minute walk from the train station. With the windows shut, you can’t hear the trains, and they don’t run overnight either. Our spacious, comfortable room looked newly renovated, and dinner at the restaurant was a great experience. It’s a family-run hotel and everyone was super friendly. The owners took such good care of us, knew us by name, and went out of their way to make sure our kids had a good time. My family and I had an amazing stay at La Furca.

There’s a good range of original local dishes, including vegetarian choices, though sadly nothing vegan. The tortellini were good, but I needed quite a lot of salt and pepper to get the flavor where I wanted it. Service was good, and I enjoyed the personal interaction with the owner.
