Nangijala Hostel

A beautiful spot in Disentis, with a hill view from the room. There’s a supermarket and a restaurant within walking distance, plus a restaurant in the hotel itself. The staff are very friendly. I’d definitely recommend it.

Nangijala in Disentis was a lovely surprise on our trip from Zermatt to St. Moritz. It could make a good stop if you’re considering an alternative to the Glacier Express. The rooms are small but cozy, with their own bathrooms, which was convenient and gave us privacy after a day of traveling. The bar and dining area have a warm, welcoming feel, like somewhere locals enjoy hanging out. The burgers were a highlight, full of flavor and cooked just right. It’s clear the kitchen takes pride in the food. Meals and drinks are on the expensive side, but the quality and service felt worth it. The staff were friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and keen to make sure we had a good time. I’d plan another stop at Nangijala if I made the journey again. It feels like being a guest in someone’s home, and the staff are really friendly. This is a cozy hostel with a restaurant and bar attached, and a good choice if you’re looking for somewhere cheaper to stay.

The location was great, about a 10 minute walk to the cable car and right beside the river. The rooms are simple and clean for a good price, and the shared bathrooms are small but clean. There are two well equipped common kitchens, plus a lovely outdoor eating area by the river. I also really liked the excellent forest burger at the Nangijala restaurant. Very happy with this place and would gladly return.
