The food was excellent and full of flavor, but poor service spoiled dinner for me. The room I’d booked wasn’t available when I arrived, which was already frustrating. At the restaurant, an employee named NICO first said I could sit anywhere, then told me the table I’d picked couldn’t be used because, apparently, the area was being set up for breakfast. The online menu also didn’t match the one at the restaurant. When I asked about the dishes, he said he couldn’t tell me whether they were good because the menu was new. That didn’t seem acceptable for restaurant staff. Dinner came to CHF 132 including taxes, far too much in my view given the service. I stayed on January 9, 2026, expecting a pleasant visit and a hotel dinner. The food was very well prepared, but the service was disappointing.

The room was spacious, though the bed setup made it a bit tricky to get around with a suitcase. The bed itself was exceptionally comfortable, and I had a great rest. The bathroom was also a good size and had a bathtub. Breakfast was probably the best of my Europe trip. The hotel sits on a hill with just one way in and out, which gives it a secluded feel. I stayed here after visiting Jungfrau. The outdoor air was extremely clean and fresh, though cold because it was winter. I’d stay again and absolutely recommend it.

Set away from town, the hotel sits in a garden compound with trees and plants, and there are good paths for a morning walk. As a birder, I loved seeing quite a few birds around. The scenic setting and lovely atmosphere were a real plus. We were very glad to find our room spacious and comfortable, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A few days ago, my wife and I stayed here with a tour group of 24 people from Asia, and breakfast was deeply upsetting. We were sent to a small dining room away from the main area. Nobody checked our room numbers or booking details, and it seemed the separation was based only on our group’s ethnicity. We felt unwelcome, and the food selection there was noticeably smaller than in the main dining area where non-Asian guests sat. Our driver, who is non-Asian, was allowed to eat in the main area and got better service, even though our company paid the same rate. We complained during our stay, but the next day there were even fewer choices and no porridge. I’m unsure whether this was hotel policy or misconduct by certain staff, but it had a very negative effect on our group. We have no reason to recommend the hotel or experience this discrimination again.

We came as a group from Malaysia, but the food options were very poor and we could only eat bread. Breakfast was a bad experience. When I went to refill my water, a server said it was unhygienic to remove the bottle’s whole lid. Yet he didn’t say anything when other people filled their bottles with the mouth still on. I felt he was showing favoritism toward non-Asian guests. He kept interrupting us while we were getting drinks and repeatedly asking if we understood what he was saying. Sadly, it was a bad experience. 😔
