Gasthaus Schwand

That salmon was the best I’ve ever had. And the view is stunning too.

We came with our children and stayed in the recently renovated family room. It had a double bed and two singles, all comfortable, and we slept well. Everything was neat and clean, with a beautiful view. The shared bathroom was always clean too. We knew about it beforehand, and it didn’t bother us. I never felt like we were having to share it with someone else, and the hosts clearly care about hygiene. We arrived at night, but the hosts were so welcoming and accommodating that we could still have dinner. The cheese fondue and mixed salad really hit the spot. Breakfast was simple, fresh, and good: fruit, orange juice, tea, coffee, bread, cheese, jam, dried meat, and yoghurt. I may have missed something, but that was plenty for me. Parking was free with lots of spaces, and the WiFi was included and worked well. There’s nature all around, and our kids loved it. We all wished we could stay longer. The mountain view from our room was amazing, and the location felt very safe. We left our luggage on the roof of the car for our one-night stay, and nothing was stolen. Free parking was much appreciated. WiFi was also surprisingly good up there, around 50 mbps or more. Gasthaus Schwand is clearly an old hotel, but it was functional, clean, and well maintained. The shared bathroom, which was clearly noted when we booked, was extremely clean. Even with all the other rooms on our floor booked, we never had to wait. Breakfast was simple but delicious, with bread, chocolate, and jam. Just keep in mind that food isn’t allowed in the rooms. The stay was excellent, though quite expensive.

The family who run the business were open to feedback, and the restaurant food was great. I’d recommend the beef tatar. We were lucky to get the top room for our one night, with amazing views. The bathroom and toilet were clean.
