Hotel Hoheneck

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and there’s a great bar area. My room and the decor looked a bit dated, but they gave me the feeling of being in a proper alpine ski hut, which made the hotel an experience for me. Breakfast was very basic. I’d still stay here again.

I loved the old-fashioned charm of this little hotel, right in a quaint town with the Alps all around. Opening the balcony doors and hearing church bells across town was lovely. It’s an older place, and that’s part of what I enjoyed about staying in an authentic Swiss hotel. Even the odd elevator with no door made me smile, though maybe it only seemed odd because we don’t see that in the US.

The breakfast and Indian dinner were very good, but I’d only stay if the price were cheap. The rooms themselves were average, and the floors were so noisy that everyone could hear you walking. Cupboards and doors creaked too, which got irritating. The toilet was so small it barely fit the person using it, as if the planner had forgotten to measure it.

The balcony had a lovely view of the Alps, and the location was beautiful. It’s a traditional Swiss chalet style hotel, with wooden floors and a vintage feel alongside modern amenities. There are nice restaurants nearby, too.
