Hôtel Les Mélèzes

The breakfast was fantastic, and there’s a small bar too. It’s a welcoming hotel in the Swiss mountains, with staff who speak fluent English and are very helpful.

Dany went above and beyond to make us feel at home. You can reserve the sauna and hot tubs, which are perfect after a long hike. We arrived early in the season, when none of the town’s restaurants were open, but the hotel even has a free shuttle service if you need it.

The flowers along the balconies were so striking that people kept stopping their cars to take pictures. We stayed in room 1, which opens onto the terrace and hot-tub area at the back of the hotel, with amazing views. Room 2 faces the street and church, beside all those incredible flowers. The rooms were clean, with modern bathrooms and amenities, and great beds. The pictures on the website match the rooms exactly. The hot tubs and sauna were lovely, but the host family made the stay: Dani, his mother Claudia, and everyone else were accommodating, helpful, kind, and genuinely interested in our happiness. The restaurant wasn’t open for dinner while we were there, but breakfast was bountiful and amazing. The homemade Burcher-musli was to die for! There’s plenty to do in the valley, and Les Haudres makes a good base camp. Evolene, the main village, is five minutes away by car, and the hotel offers shuttle service if needed. The location was especially handy for photographers heading up the mountain early. The host gave great service, and the room was clean. As winter was setting in, the hair-dryer, heater, and hot shower were really crucial for me. This place was really nice, and I’d definitely stay here again if I’m in the area.
