Hotel des Alpes

The room was okay and generally clean, but the staff were unfriendly. We had booked a restaurant table and were offered two options. Because of a misunderstanding, we sat at the wrong one. The man who had explained the options got really angry with us, even though we changed tables straight away. He was very rude. The breakfast buffet had no croissants, scrambled eggs, or bacon.

The restaurant is well worth visiting even if you're not staying here. I had dinner there, and the quality and taste were over the top. The hotel itself is a bargain at good rates. I only stayed one night, but would come back anytime I'm in the area. Thanks to Jürg and his team for a really pleasant stay. The pool area was clean and nice, with a sauna, and in summer you can step into the garden from the pool for fresh air. The rooms have been freshly renovated and cover the basic needs; they're quiet, and hot water came quickly. Breakfast isn't huge, but has a wide variety, so you'll leave full. The cable car station is quite close by bus. In winter there's storage for ski equipment, and in summer for bikes. They also have washing machines for soon laundry if you're staying longer, or if your bike got dirty on the drive. Hope to be back soon.

I stayed here in 2023 and had to return. The hotel is fantastic, just what you need, and the staff are amazing. The Italian restaurant downstairs is wonderful, the best in town!

A really bad experience. If you want a good night's sleep, this isn't the place. Smoke came into the corridors and our room, even though I don't smoke. I asked the person in the room below whether it was coming from them. She casually said yes, she smoked cigarettes in her room and would keep smoking all evening because she owned her unit and could do what she wanted. When hotel staff tried to speak with her, she wouldn't answer. In the end, nobody dealt with the problem. Communication with the hotel was practically nonexistent. Reception closes at 5:30 pm, with no contact or emergency number. When I got locked out, I was told I would just have to sleep in the hallway. The kitchen worker offered one of the only two rooms reception had left available, on the first floor above the kitchen. It had loud engines, about three of them, running all day and night, along with clanking and banging from pots and other kitchen objects. You could hear everything. So I was left choosing between smoke in my room and constant noise. The hotel surely knows about these problems, and likely has received complaints. The room air vents are covered now, presumably because of the smoke issue. The engines could have been shut off overnight since the kitchen closes in the evening, but the kitchen staff said they didn't know how. Nobody bothered calling the receptionist to ask which other rooms were available, so the kitchen worker could have placed me in one of those. There was no one to contact about issues and no communication. You'll lose money and deal with a lot of stress staying here. The majority owner would be much more successful if they addressed these problems. Not recommended, avoid this hotel if you can.
