Berghotel Schonhalden

You can head out ski touring straight from the hotel, and the location is fantastic, with a great view of the Churfirsten and the Nebelmeer ;-). The staff are super friendly, the room is spacious, and the restaurant is good. A sauna or hot pot would make the stay even better.

Getting here by cable car alone makes for a pretty unique stay. I spent three nights in a spacious room with a panoramic view, and the owner and staff were very friendly. They also suggested different walking trails from the hotel. Breakfast is a buffet with a good range, including cold meats and cheese. Dinner had a great choice of local produce, and I ate there all three nights. I wish I’d had longer to try more dishes. I highly recommend it to anyone in the area or Switzerland. Thanks for such a memorable visit, and I hope to come back.

Our children were thrilled that reaching Berghotel Schönhalden meant riding a cable car. We were welcomed as if we were coming home, and since we’re a larger family, the owners offered us their bigger family room instead of two separate rooms. They were warm and welcoming the whole time. The food was consistently good, with a beautiful breakfast each morning. There are so many outdoor activities nearby that you won’t run out of things to do. We came after Christmas and would love to return in summer for family hikes. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

The gondola ride up was a great start, and I loved staying at Berghotel Schönhalden. You can begin a hike right from the hotel. The rooms are lovely and spacious, with a comfortable bed, though the pillows were very soft, as they are in most hotels. Dinner was amazing, and breakfast had everything you could want: local charcuterie, good bread, alpine butter, müesli, yogurt, juice, cheeses, scrambled eggs, bacon, and fruit.
