Hotel Rhyhof

The central location in Frauenfeld is very good, and the rooms are nice and clean. The downside is breakfast: there’s no buffet, just a set menu with coffee or tea, a glass of juice, day-old buns with butter and jam, plus a tasty portion of yoghurt müsli. Eggs and ham would be a welcome addition. There’s also no air conditioning for hot summer days.

The staff were very friendly, and some were particularly service-oriented. Wi-Fi was only available in public areas, and I couldn’t use the gym because it closes early in the afternoon. For business travelers who leave early and get back late, this hotel isn’t really suitable, and I’d rather stay somewhere else. The room was just about acceptable, though a bit dated. One heater was broken, and the air smelled of stale smoke. Breakfast was good when it was actually available, but although it was advertised from 7:00 AM, there was nothing to eat then. Croissants came later, with jam and cheese available on request. They were out of Bircher muesli; the chef said he’d make more at 8:00 AM, and it would be available again the next day.

You feel welcome from the moment you arrive, and check-in over the phone was extremely friendly. Breakfast had a fresh, varied selection, including eggs. The hotel is a bit older, but everything else is outstanding, and it feels like they can make anything possible. Highly recommended.

Our 3-year-old had a blast in the basement room, which had a small bouncy castle, a ball pit and a play area just for children. We were there for Sunday brunch and loved the buffet, with a great selection and something for everyone. The service was very friendly too. At €33 per person, with our daughter eating free, the price felt more than fair. Thanks so much, we’ll definitely be back! 🙂👍🏻
