Seehotel Schwert

We’ve stayed at the Seehotel Schwert several times over the years, and it’s sad to see how much it has declined. The price has risen, and our very mediocre room was among the priciest of our trip to visit family. The rooms are functional but dated, and the place is neither dirty nor clean. The once wonderful breakfast buffet is now a shadow of itself. The lakeside terrace is still there, but its lovely atmosphere has gone. Locals used to come for the food, the gorgeous view, and the incredible staff. That’s no longer the case. After doing some research, I found it had been sold to a foreign owner and isn’t even run by anyone Swiss now. It has completely lost its “Swissness”. I can see it becoming a package hotel for budget tour buses doing the obligatory 5 day trip through Switzerland, bragging about it on TikTok and returning home with suitcases full of luxury goods. Very sad.

We had breakfast on the terrace and really enjoyed it, especially with those beautiful lake views. The hotel is right by the water, very clean and comfortable, though a bit traditional. I’d definitely come back.

Sunrise and sunset by the lake made the location feel especially lovely. The staff were friendly and polite, and were always happy to help. At breakfast, I enjoyed the fresh, tasty variety and sitting on the lakeside terrace. Our room was clean, tidy, well equipped, and very comfortable. Seehotel Schwert is a quiet, charming little hotel right on the lake. I’ll definitely return! 😁
