Gasthaus Richisau Glarus Klöntal

I won't come back. The man running the place was extremely unfriendly after I made myself a coffee at 6 using the machine and cups in the communal area. Breakfast isn't served until 8, which is very late for hikers. In response to Mr Van Stejn: the machine and cups were in a shared area, not the kitchen, and there was no breakfast available before 8. It seemed reasonable to think guests could use the machine. That's normal in most places. If guests aren't meant to make coffee, why not lock the communal area or put up a sign? Either way, that doesn't justify treating guests rudely. Maybe a hospitality course would help. Hospitality and hostility are very different, and guests aren't your enemies.

We couldn't pay by card, as others have mentioned, but the hosts were happy to write an Einzahlungsschein so we could make a bank transfer later. That probably only works for overnight guests. We had a four bed room with a shared bathroom. It was simple, but completely adequate. The people were friendly, the local food decent, and the view of Klöntal on the road up to Richisau was beautiful.

The food was great, though the portions were small. After a long walk I need a bigger serving, and that would have made this five stars. Otherwise, all good.

Nowhere feels more magical to me. This place is heaven on earth, and I can't wait to come back.
