Restaurant Walliserkanne und Sigis Bar

This is just about the restaurant. The food was great, the indoor decor was lovely, and the employees were kind. Service was the one downside: we waited 50 minutes for three main courses, including a salad, without ordering any starters. Dessert did arrive quickly.

The Cayas was a substantial wine, which you can’t say about many Swiss reds. I also tried the white Varenheit, the red Varenheit, and the Longitude, and all four were convincing, well-made, creative local wines. For food, the Rösti with cheese in Sigis Schlemmertöpfchen was a dream, served with pork and beef tenderloin. The meat was great, and the beef was cooked exactly as I’d asked, something that often doesn’t happen in Switzerland. I started with a simple mixed salad, but it had a good mix of vegetables and a delicious dressing that was clearly made in-house. The bread was fresh and savory too. I usually skip dessert, but since I had an ultra run the next day, I ordered vanilla ice cream with roasted pumpkin seeds and pumpkin oil. What a combination, it really popped. I’d wanted a very Wallis experience and wondered from the menu if this place might be a little too modern. The restaurant’s high ratings persuaded me to try it, and that turned out to be a lucky choice. You can tell the person in charge truly loves food and wine. It’s a pleasure to find somewhere that respects good food. Thank you.

We had a lovely time here. The service was super friendly, and the food was amazing. It’s in the older part of town, with lovely mountain views and old houses standing on stone pillars.

Excellent food, a nice atmosphere, and friendly service made for an almost perfect meal. The only small hiccup was that they brought the bottle of red wine to our table but didn’t open it. We had to ask after the main dishes had already arrived.
