Hotel Tissot Velodrome

We were a family of two adults and a child in room 14. The room was spacious and clean, but very basic and poorly lit, with just two floor lamps and a bedside lamp. For three people there was only one hand towel and one bath towel, and nobody was at reception. I called, and someone came who didn’t even know where the extra towels were. There was just one 500 ml bottle of water for all three of us, and no kettle or coffee maker in the room. The soundproofing was awful, and we could hear a birthday party in the street late into the night. At 7:30 pm I went out to get food, and when I came back the entrance door wouldn’t open with the card. I waited in the cold for 20 minutes until someone let me in. This is a serious problem for wheelchair users, since reception closes and the elevator is turned off. There was no restaurant or breakfast over the weekend either. The location near the velodrome was okay, but the service and facilities urgently need improvement. I don’t recommend it for families or overnight stays.

There’s an outdoor swimming pool across the street, and if you’re lucky you may see cyclists training. Reception was staffed when we arrived, until 5 pm, and again the next morning. An interesting hotel.

This is basically a large sports complex, mostly for cycling enthusiasts. We picked it because it was conveniently on our way to France. Check-in is self-service at the entrance, so you can arrive at any hour. Rooms were clean, coffee was provided free, and breakfast was adequate.

We stopped between Solothurn and Evian. The room was very large and welcoming, with simple furnishings but everything we needed. The area was really quiet, and there’s a restaurant downstairs as well as others nearby.
