Villa Pochon

Mara made our wedding day at Villa Pochon even more special. She decorated our room and planned and decorated a wonderful wedding dinner at her restaurant, Eden Beach. We showed her a picture of the setup we wanted, and she matched it perfectly. The restaurant had exactly the style and atmosphere we’d hoped for. We stayed at the villa for three days, and Mara was incredibly kind, generous, helpful, and hospitable. Our room had a stunning lake view. The backyard, leading up to a bridge beside a gorgeous waterfall, was also perfect for our photoshoot. Thank you, Mara, for all the care and attention that made the stay and our wedding so memorable.

The view was nice, and the bed was OK. The only staff member we found was friendly. Still, I wouldn’t recommend this place if you have trouble with stairs or feel claustrophobic. I couldn’t find an emergency exit or anything that looked like a fire extinguisher, and I’d worry about getting out in a fire. Arriving by car is awkward too, with no nearby parking and heavy traffic on the road right in front of the villa. There are lots of small, mostly handwritten reminders around the house, like switching off the light and closing the door. It reminded me of my old grandmother’s house. There’s one shared bathroom with a shower and bath. Other guests might get fed up if you take too long, since you’re tying up both the shower and toilet and using the hot water. I got up early and had warm water, but if you sleep in the boiler might be empty and only heat again the next night. Bring your own soap and shampoo. Breakfast was the poorest I’ve ever had, so if you’re used to going without breakfast, this might be the place for you.

Everything else was good, and the staff were nice and friendly. The location is wonderful. I visited in summer, though, and it was really hot with no fan. There’s no parking for the villa either.
