Romantik Hotel Schwan

This feels like a home away from home. The husband and wife who host the hotel are such pleasant people, and seeing their friendly faces each morning adds a homely touch. Breakfast is great too. The train is about a five-minute walk away, along the shores of Lake Zurich. Nearby shops include Denner, Migros, and Coop, just a minute away. There's a flower shop across the street with beautiful creations. Around town you'll also find restaurants, a church tower bell, a cemetery, pharmacies, a post office, boutiques, and a museum about Horgen's history. It's charming to hear children playing in the afternoons and see the friendly locals passing by. The hotel is a great base for exploring Switzerland, from Zurich to Zermatt, Lauterbutten, Interlaken, and Lucerne, then back home. I was sorry to miss the hotel restaurant this time because we were busy with friends and sightseeing. It was excellent when I last visited. I stayed from Oct 22 to 29 2025. This was my fourth visit to this same hotel Schwan in Horgen, after 2019, 2022, and 2023, and I've just booked another stay for June 2026. Alberto

The room was comfortable, with toiletries and a Nespreso coffee machine, and a cot was provided for the baby. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was very good, and it felt very family friendly. It's a five-minute walk to either the train station or the lake, and self check-in was easy. Check-in is at 3pm and check-out at 11am. 100% recommended! A few small drawbacks: the mattress was too soft, and there was a funny smell from the bathroom that eventually went away. The lift wasn't working, though that wasn't a big issue.

A fantastic 14th-century inn with timber beams, a large bed, and thick donnas. The hotel and room were very clean, with great amenities, and the tea was fantastic. Breakfast was delicious too. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I'd highly recommend it if you're staying anywhere near Zurich, with easy train access and lower prices than in the city. We stayed in September and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Hotel Schwan in Horgen is a small, well-run place managed by Pascal Rhyner and Sabrina Nickel, right on Lake Zurich, with Swiss hospitality, excellent food, and friendly service. Horgen was a convenient base for day trips to Lucerne and Zurich, and we also took a scenic public ferry across the lake to Rapperswil. It's about a 30-minute train ride from Zurich Airport.
