Hotel Allegra Lodge

We’d happily stay here again. We had no problems, the beds were comfortable, the room was great, and the staff were very friendly. There are two grocery stores nearby, a bus stop about a block away, and the train station is a bit farther down some stairs. Getting to the airport and city center is easy, though Switzerland’s public transit is great in general. The hotel sits beside the tracks, but the trains didn’t disturb us. For Americans, they’re much quieter than freight trains back home. I forgot to take bathroom photos, but ours had a shower at one end, two sinks in the middle, and the toilet at the other. A door closed off all three, and there was another door for the shower and toilet area. The breakfast was amazing, but watch the booking fine print: when a perk says breakfast for one, it means just one person. Some sites say free breakfast, but it was 30 francs per person.

Our whole family loved the stay, and we’d definitely come back. The staff were gracious and very friendly, and breakfast was amazing. The hotel is well kept with a beautiful interior, and it was quiet the entire time. It’s close to the train and bus station, and near enough to the airport while feeling away from Zurich’s bustle. Our lodge suite was well appointed, though I have to say it wasn’t the cleanest. Thanks from all the way in California!

I had a pleasant stay on both visits in October 2025 and would return. The first was two nights with a group of four in the Lodge Suite, then I came back with one more person for a night in the Allegra Room. Service was friendly both times, and both rooms were clean on arrival. Reception can hold your suitcase if you arrive before check-in. The location is excellent: the airport is easy to reach by bus, and Kloten train station is close for trips to Zurich HB and the city. Parking costs 20 CHF per night in an underground garage with direct hotel access. There’s a Spar nearby, with a large Migros and Aldi also close. The Lodge Suite had complimentary bottled water, tea and coffee, a minibar fridge, and a kettle. It had enough room for four adults, with one room containing combined twin beds and another with a bunk bed. It sat right over the tracks, so passing trains were very loud unless the windows were shut. The air conditioning felt weak, and I sometimes opened the windows for ventilation, then had to close them again because of the train noise. The bunk bed pillows were extremely soft at first, but housekeeping easily provided firmer ones. The Allegra Room was also clean, with complimentary water, tea and coffee, and a kettle. There was plenty of room for two adults. It faced away from the tracks, so trains were harder to hear. Some USB charging ports didn’t work. Breakfast was included with the Allegra Room. It was a standard buffet with breads, scrambled eggs, sausages, cereals, juice, and hot tea, coffee, Ovomaltine, and hot chocolate. Nothing stood out, but the food was good quality overall.

The breakfast spread was delicious and worth the price, and the lobby bar was nice. I also appreciated the welcome drink at check-in. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and getting here from the airport by bus or train was really convenient. I’d suggest the bus, since it’s cheaper and only a seven-minute ride. A hotel this good in Zurich at this price feels like a steal. It’ll be my go-to for an overnight layover.
