Leonardo Hotel Zurich Airport

The room was clean and comfortable, and everything else went smoothly. We did find it warmer than we liked because the hotel controls the air conditioner, so we couldn’t set the temperature ourselves. Staff brought a fan, which helped, but I’d have preferred to adjust the AC on my own.

Even arriving early felt easy, thanks to a delightful receptionist who made us feel welcome. Our room was spacious, bright and thoughtfully designed, with everything seeming to be taken care of. The location was pleasant despite being so close to the airport.

When I arrived around 23:30, I was given a room with an overpowering sewage smell. It was impossible to stay in, so I immediately asked to change rooms. Reception said there were none available and offered no other solution. I ended up opening the window and standing beside it for the next 30 minutes just to breathe. Luckily, the desk was by the window. The hotel’s offer of a room upgrade on a future visit as “compensation” was pointless, since I’ll never return. I rarely complain and usually leave positive reviews, but the smell and lack of any real fix were unacceptable. Avoid this place if basic hygiene and service matter to you.

My husband was diagnosed with cancer during our trip, and we had to rush home for treatment. We had booked a non-refundable room, but contacted the hotel to move the reservation to an earlier date, not to get a refund. Rooms were available, yet the hotel chose not to accommodate the change despite the circumstances. As others have said, this showed no empathy or customer care. The way they stuck to the rules in a situation like this says a lot about their hospitality. Please spend your money elsewhere.
