The dirty cups at breakfast were unacceptable for a place calling itself a 4-star hotel. Breakfast ran only from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM, which I didn’t think was reasonable, though I accepted it might be the hotel’s policy. When I called for two extra pillows, I was told abruptly that none were available, with no apology or explanation. I said that was disappointing for a 4-star hotel, and got only “Okay.” I know supplies can run out, but a basic apology would have helped. Later I used the room phone to ask for hot water. The staff member said I’d called an emergency number and asked if there was an emergency, explaining that non-emergency service wasn’t available after 10 PM. I can accept the after-10 policy, but the phone setup is confusing: the main Reception button connects to the emergency line even though there’s a separate button clearly marked Emergency. That seems concerning, and the staff member’s attitude made the situation more frustrating. I’ve traveled through more than 10 countries and, from years of work as a consultant, have spent plenty of nights in hotels. I’m used to adapting, but this didn’t feel like the 4-star experience the hotel claims to provide. I was deeply disappointed, didn’t feel welcome, and wouldn’t recommend it even to my enemies.

The room was comfortable, with a very nice bed and pillows, and it was generally quiet. We booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package for about 500 for the night, including wine and drinks. Breakfast had a good range of choices, and dinner was reasonably good, with good wine and nice service. There was so much food that we couldn’t manage dessert. The stay felt partly luxurious, though the area outside the gardens wasn’t so lovely. We enjoyed it for a one-night stay, and check-in and check-out were very easy.

The dinner at the hotel restaurant was excellent, so compliments to the chef. We also enjoyed the wellness centre, especially the properly hot Finnish sauna and the warm and cold showers. Service was friendly and attentive, and the bar has a terrace that’s lovely for summer evenings. The rooms were comfortable too, making this feel like a five-star stay. A couple of small things could be improved. The steam room felt a little cool when seated. The zimmer itself, by contrast, was a bit hot, and we couldn’t open the second small window because it had no mosquito net.

We found this lovely gem unexpectedly, and got a fantastic discounted price by booking late in the season. I’d highly recommend it for a romantic getaway for couples!

The park view was great, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast had some nice options, and the gym is fitted with high-end equipment, alongside a nice wellness area with a jacuzzi and saunas. The rooms could use some improvement, especially that terrible pillow!
