Hotel Kreuzlingen am Hafen

It was nice and quiet, with good rooms and a nice breakfast. The hotel is on the Swiss side of Constance, about a 20-minute walk from the center. The whole building felt a bit too warm, though. Opening the windows helped, but then we could hear the trains, and the AC didn't make a difference.

The staff here are second to none. I've stayed in a lot of hotels, and for me this is the best. People in the area were welcoming and friendly, and nobody treated me differently as a Black man, though I was the only one I saw at the hotel. There are many Black people on the island. The place itself is fantastic, clean and tidy, and very close to a huge, clean lake. You see people of every age getting around on bikes, scooters, and skateboards, and they seem fit and healthy. I was here for 16 days because of work, but it felt like a holiday. The room would have earned five stars from me if it had a fridge and kettle. Maybe I should have asked for a kettle, since there were tea cups in the room. They left two kinds of water each day, sparkling and still, and I wanted somewhere cold to keep them. Switzerland is very expensive for dining, so make sure you've got money for meals here. Germany is only a 10-minute walk away and much cheaper. I'll definitely return, and this will be my first choice on the island, even if I have to drive 1-2 hours each day. Just give me a fridge and kettle, I like ice water and herbal tea.

The location is handy, about 20 minutes from the Konstanz ferry. I found the single room well suited to a weekend break. It was clean and tidy, and the bathroom sink area had plenty of room for toiletries and washing up comfortably.

The rooms are spacious, and they leave water bottles for you to use in the room. My one issue was the lack of AC. You can ask for a fan, but it isn't the same.
