The fondue is the best I’ve had anywhere in Switzerland, after 11 years of coming here, and the manager once took the time to explain the cheese blend and where it came from. The menu has enough variety for us to eat here several times per stay without getting bored, with a very good vegetarian selection too. The Swiss classics are done beautifully, and there are excellent Italian choices and seasonal changes as well. The creamy truffle mushroom linguini deserves a mention. The terrace has gorgeous views, and the restaurant feels warm and atmospheric, just right for a Swiss mountain setting. Service is beautifully timed, never rushed or slow, and has stayed remarkably consistent for over a decade. That says a lot about the leadership. I’ve come to know Ema, the manager, who has been here for many years. The team reads the table well and makes people feel welcome, whether they want quiet or company. Artur, Rodrigo, Vanessa, Pedro, Bebe, and Francisco have all made my visits especially warm. The staff are professional and genuinely kind, and you can feel the care and pride in what they do. I’ve visited this village for 11 years, first as a visitor and now as someone lucky enough to live in Switzerland, and Eiger Guesthouse has always been my favorite. I’ve stayed here with different travel partners, and it works for everyone. The rooms are spotless, spacious and beautifully renovated, with generous storage, modern bathrooms, great showers and excellent water pressure. Mountain-facing rooms have stunning balcony views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. The hotel feels modern but cozy, with warm wood and charming regional décor. Being next to the train station is very convenient, while the evenings are peaceful and quiet. The blackout curtains are excellent, and when the sun comes up, the views are spectacular. Breakfast is one of the best I’ve had in a Swiss hotel: fresh, varied and clearly made with care. There’s a relaxed, cozy bar for coffee, cocktails or winding down, and it’s easy to make genuine connections there. The pool and spa are a short walk away, the grocery store is under 10 minutes, and the rest of town is easy to reach. I’ve stayed at many hotels in the village and the region, but I keep coming back here. Whether it’s dinner, a drink, a stay or the atmosphere, this place is special. For me, it’s the go-to.
