We chose this spot for its beautiful setting and planned to meet up there as a group. The coffee was the most mediocre we've had, and the whole stop felt unwelcoming. When I asked whether they took cash or card, the server accepted my cash, then a man came over saying, “No cash, no cash.” We won't be back.
This is one of only a couple of ski-in, ski-out places around, and the bar is well stocked. We had dinner there after a long hike: the owner, a formally trained chef, put together a custom meal and was wonderfully hospitable. If you want dinner without staying overnight, you'll need a reservation. Many people heading to Murren miss this gem, about a 30-minute hike above, or a shorter trip by the Allmendhubel lift. The setting is much better than in Laurerbeunnen, where you fall asleep to the cowbells.
We took the flower trail up from Murren and stopped here to load up on carbs before carrying on with the hike. It's hard to believe you can find authentic Italian food up in the mountains. Don't miss it.
We had a lovely stay, with great dinner and breakfast and delicious wine. There were vegetarian options, too. The hike to get there was tough for beginners like us, but the view made it worth the effort.
Our tent got flooded and the owner stepped in to help us out. He's a very good man. I'd highly recommend this Restaurant/Pension, 10/10.
