They looked after us well, including members of the owner’s family, which was a nice touch. The wine list is well stocked with bottles from around the world and a very good local selection, including good wines by the glass. There are vegetarian dishes too, and at this time of year, like many traditional Swiss restaurants, they have a game menu. I had lunch here on the first Saturday of October 2024 and chose from the grill menu. I asked for my steak blue, but it came medium rare, which wasn't what I expected. To make up for it, they offered a free espresso at the end of the meal.

The new part of the restaurant felt fresh and crisp, but still cozy. We had a corner table with a good view, and the service was superb. The small mixed salad was enough for two, and both the beef stroganoff and pappardelle with venison were delicious. This has been our best meal in Switzerland so far.

The Waldhaus in Leukerbad made New Year's Day lunch feel like a lovely start to the year. There were eight adults and our baby, and the staff made us feel right at home. They were warm, attentive and helpful throughout, always with a smile. The food was delicious and nicely prepared, and came out surprisingly quickly for a holiday. Everything we tried was spot-on. We'll definitely come back.

We liked the food so much that we came back for dinner a second time to try more. The staff were amazing and helped us choose wines to go with our meals. Fantastic food, and the best restaurant in Leukerbad. I can't recommend it enough!
