Le Bristol Leukerbad

Absolute heaven, and our favorite place. The thermal spa is amazing, with a big hot pool and lounge areas in the garden. There’s also a nice restaurant and bar. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable, and the views are amazing. Such a wonderful hotel in a cute little mountain village.

The restaurant and lobby were both beautiful, clean, and pleasant spaces. Breakfast was decent and reliably clean, but it was exactly the same each day. We paid 1,000 CHF for 3 nights, and the stay didn’t feel like four-star quality. At best, I’d call it three-star level. We stayed in building no. 2. Our room was bright and very spacious, with a balcony and chairs. The bathroom, though, was tiny, and the minibar had only 2 bottles of water. I appreciated the bag with robes and slippers, including ones for our child. We picked the hotel mainly for its pools and thermal water, but ended up using the hotel pool only once and going to Therme in the city instead. The pools were smaller than they looked in the photos. There’s a small, warm indoor pool, an outdoor one at around 31°C, a cold pond-like pool at around 22°C, and a wooden Japanese-style soaking tub with water that seemed salty, around 38°C. The outdoor pool has a beautiful view, but the pool area needed better attention: dead flies were on the stairs between pools, the indoor area had a weird smell, probably because the toilets were too close, and the windows and walls were dirty. There was no bar, staff, or way to get drinks by the pools, and I didn’t see cleaning staff during the day. The reception staff felt distant and spoke very fast, as if they wanted to move on quickly. They seemed much friendlier and warmer with other guests, using their names and so on, which made our interaction feel colder by comparison. The restaurant staff at breakfast were kind. Near the fitness room and kids’ playroom, two toilets were constantly left open by staff. We tried to shut the doors, but they would open them again. That left a strong, unpleasant smell of cleaning chemicals in the hallway, especially uncomfortable next to a children’s play area.

A great family hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially Salvatore, who quickly became best friends with our little son. We enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor pools, and the view of the snowy mountains from the warm pool was breathtaking. Highly recommend it!

The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with lovely balconies and breathtaking views. Hotel Le Bristol has plenty to enjoy if you’re looking for a relaxing stay. Breakfast stood out, especially the coffee machines and fresh orange juice, some of the best around. The thermal pool is fed by the hotel’s own spring, with indoor and outdoor areas reserved for guests. I also liked the sauna and Turkish bath, though I think making them naked-only would help keep the sauna wood clean and dry. At the moment, people tend to sit in wet swimwear instead of using towels. There are a few practical shortcomings. The elevators are small, and sometimes stairs are the only option, which makes things difficult for anyone with a stroller or wheelchair. The hotel could also use some updates to the soundproofing, key system, and media options.
