Camping Melezza

The campsite is ideally placed for lovely walking and biking routes, and the facilities were spotless, well kept, and had everything we needed. Dog owners will especially appreciate the dog shower, a great touch. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Thank you!

The cycle path into the city starts behind the site, though its first 1-2 km are sandy and gravelly, so a mountain or crossover bike would suit it best. My one concern is that the fresh water tap for our side of the campsite is beside the chemical toilet dump. I don't trust everyone to avoid using that hose to rinse chemical toilets. Otherwise, it's a very nice campsite with friendly, multilingual staff. The restaurant is basic and inexpensive by Swiss standards.

Our pitch sloped, leaving no flat space for our table and chairs, and it wasn't big enough for our moderately sized tent and medium-sized car. Camper vans were only 1-2 metres away on each side, and a neighbour's diesel heating system woke us at 5am with tremendous noise. Road traffic nearby was also fast and busy, so it wasn't a restful stay. We booked two nights but decided to leave. The receptionist seemed disinterested and rather ungracious, and our refund came in Swiss Francs instead of back to our credit card. We did get a warm welcome at first, and the facilities were high quality, especially the restaurant pizza.

We liked the atmosphere, and in early July it wasn't overcrowded. The site is neat and clean, right by the river Melezza, with Wi-Fi and a dog-friendly policy. On the downside, it's also beside a road, so there's noise, the showers are suitable for children, and the pitches are very small. Prices are rather high: € 50 per night for two people, one dog, a caravan, and a car.
