ibis budget Luzern City

We weren’t expecting anything flash at the Ibis Hotel in Lucern, since it’s a budget hotel, but the stay had some ups and downs. The room was small, the walls seemed thin, and the shower pressure was very poor. For what we paid, those things were expected, but the experience would have been much more comfortable if the staff had all been lovely. The location worked well, a 12 minute walk from the train station and food stores, with easy access to the center and the city’s attractions. There’s a map at reception to see what’s nearby, plus a hand-held map. Our first staff interaction was unpleasant. The man was abrupt and rude about the security deposit. We know deposits are normal, and paying it wasn’t an issue, but the way he handled the conversation was disappointing, especially after our previous stay elsewhere, where they explained the deposit so well. Our neighbours then made a lot of noise at ridiculous hours and woke us around 1am. We told reception, and that receptionist was LOVELY. He was so positive and reassuring after such an unpleasant wake-up. It was a real contrast with the first interaction.

Joyce and Marco made us feel welcome the whole time. They were attentive and friendly, their recommendations were spot on, and they made sure everything was right during our visit. The meal at Ebis was a wonderful experience, with fresh, delicious food that was full of flavor and beautifully presented. You can tell they care about quality and detail. Their service really made a difference. We’ll definitely be back and recommend Ebis to anyone looking for great food and hospitality!

I usually like staying at Ibis, since it’s generally clean, and this visit in Lucerne, Switzerland didn’t disappoint. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. Joyce and Marco especially stood out, always approachable, greeting you with a smile, and ready to help. Kudos to them!

The staff’s attitude was the biggest problem. They weren’t friendly, and when I booked a double room, we were given a triple-bed room. I opened the door, saw it was the wrong type, and went straight back to reception to ask for the room I’d reserved. The receptionist asked why I didn’t like it. I explained it simply wasn’t what I’d booked. We hadn’t even entered or used the first room, but she insisted on checking it before changing it. It felt like they suspected we’d damaged something, which was uncomfortable and unnecessary. We were asked to pay 6 CHF at noon just to store our luggage before check-in. Borrowing a hair dryer required a 20 CHF deposit, parking was 23 CHF per day, and they gave us just one small towel each. Everything felt like an extra charge for basic necessities. Very disappointing experience at Ibis Budget Hotel, with a horrible staff attitude and a very poor hotel system. Definitely not recommended.
